Our Story

Parenting for the Future grew out of the last 20 years of our life as parents.

Anthony Eldridge-Rogers 


Anthony has had a wide ranging career following a range of interests from film making, advertising, photography, wine farming, boutique hotel and restaurant owner and over the last decade behavioural health. He has worked and lived in Africa, Italy, Spain and the UK.

He is a leader in the field of recovery and wellness, coaching and consults widely across the Eu and US. He has been teaching coaching through an organisation he set up in 2010. He has developed a new coaching model, Meaning Centered Coaching (MCC) which is the subject of his upcoming book.  


He feels that it is without doubt impossible to ignore the fact that we live in an astonishing time in human history and his main focus is being part of positive fulfilling change.


The future belongs to our children and younger generations, and he is fully dedicated to supporting them and the parents that raise them.

 

Lehla Eldridge


A published author, Illustrator, performer and unschooling advocate for parents, teachers and children who are interested in raising self-directed autonomous learners. Co-author of 'Jump, Fall, Fly’ which talks about schooling from homeschooling to Unschooling and is written to support parents in how to raise free-thinking children in a fast-changing world.


As co-author of Jump, Fall, Fly, she offers practical insights on everything from that moment when you think school is not for your child, to homeschooling to unschooling,. She provides a roadmap for raising free-thinking resilient and happy children.

With a heart for supporting families outside the traditional schooling system, Lehla empowers parents to nurture autonomous learners and create environments where curiosity and independence can thrive. In turn, this empowers children to be the self directed learners they were alway meant to be!

 

How 'Parenting for the Future' got going


We started out as two parents with three children who like all children were playing, having fun, generally exploring the world. Then it came to a point when we realised that they were due to go to school. And everything changed, what was fun became a lesson, what was freedom became timetable, and playtime was limited. Learning to read had a goal attached, numeracy had a deadline, even art had to be done in a certain way.

The freedom and excitement of the early years suddenly vanished. Like someone had turned down the fire in our kids eyes. It was then that we decided to embark on a life without school. It was a bumpy journey initially, neither of us were exactly sure how this worked. We didn’t have a road map, we were essentially figuring it out as we went.

But we knew that having laughter and fun back in the house and watching our children marvel at the world was more in alignment in our beliefs about education and learning. So we took the jump and never looked back!

Since then

We have lived with our children in South Africa, Italy, Spain and the U.K. Our kids spent most of their childhood playing and learning from the environments around them. They learnt different languages, learnt from different cultures and had friends of all ages. They were just learning within the confines of a classroom they were learning from the world itself. 

Two of our children took themselves back in to the education system they took their first GCSE aged 14, then started at college aged 16 and did GCSE’s and then A Levels. Our other child decided to learn in his own way outside of the education system. We’ve always believed in giving our children the utmost freedom to choose their own paths, without feeling pressured to follow a traditional education system that was made for a time that no longer exists.

And Now

Our children are now adults and we are filled with so much joy in seeing what our now adults have become. Two of them are circus performers, and have their own vintage clothing company called Ciao Bella. Our other child is training fervently right now. They are all doing what they love and we are very proud to say we are a very close family. The bond we have between us all is very strong. We were 100% there for their childhood, it wasn’t always easy, and we had to adjust our lives in unexpected ways, however our children fully experienced their childhood and whom ever they will become will stem from that and their colourful childhood memories will be with them forever. We now work with other people who are looking to same the same magical, sometimes crazy rollercoaster journey. Hold on to your hats, it will all be worth it!

Through conversations, listening to young people and parents, we are working every day to find better ways for parents and children to play, learn, thrive, and have fun in this fast changing world
